A shocking security breach has come to light in the rape and murder of a 22-year-old woman, daughter of an IRS officer, at her residence in Amar Colony.
The victim, an IIT graduate and UPSC aspirant, was found dead at her home. Police confirmed that she was sexually assaulted and strangled using a phone charger.
Investigators suspect Rahul Meena, a former domestic help who had been dismissed over a month ago, of committing the crime. According to police sources, the accused was familiar with the house’s internal security system, including access codes and the locations of spare keys.
The residence reportedly had a four-layered security mechanism, with multiple locked access points and restricted lift entry. Police believe the accused used this prior knowledge to move through the house without detection.
Arrest and CCTV Evidence
Meena was arrested within hours from a hotel in Dwarka, where he had gone into hiding. He has been booked on charges of rape, murder, and robbery.
CCTV footage captured the accused entering the residential complex at around 6:28 AM wearing a yellow shirt and black pants. He was later seen leaving at approximately 7:22 AM in a different set of clothes.
Sequence of Events
The victim was alone at home at the time of the incident. Her parents returned around 8 AM and found her lying in a pool of blood.
A post-mortem examination confirmed sexual assault and death due to strangulation. Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
The incident has raised serious concerns over residential security, particularly regarding access to sensitive information by former staff.
