Union Territory Cabinet is set to convene in Jammu on Thursday for its final meeting before the Civil Secretariat shifts to Srinagar for the summer session, with several key administrative and policy matters slated for deliberation.
According to official sources, the meeting will be held at 11 AM at the Chief Minister’s residence and is expected to take up the long-pending cadre review and restructuring of the Jal Shakti Department. Discussions are also likely on a proposed Memorandum of Understanding under the Jal Jeevan Mission aimed at strengthening water supply infrastructure.
Among other major proposals, the Cabinet may consider approval of Recruitment Rules for the State Motor Garages and a comprehensive restructuring of the Health and Medical Education Department. This includes the proposed re-designation of Medical Superintendents and their deputies as Professors, Associate Professors, and Assistant Professors in Government Medical Colleges.
The meeting is also expected to deliberate on promotions of Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Services (JKAS) officers across various ranks, including Under Secretaries, Additional Secretaries, and Special Secretaries. Additionally, a proposal for the creation of nine posts of District Ayush Officers and revalidation of lecturer regularisation in the Education Department is on the agenda.
Sources further indicated that the Cabinet may take up proposals for the creation of a supernumerary post of District Judge, along with clearance of key development projects across sectors such as Public Works, Rural Development, and Housing and Urban Development.
While the issue of Dearness Allowance for employees and pensioners is not formally listed, it may be introduced as a supplementary agenda item.
All decisions taken during the meeting will be subject to the approval of the Lieutenant Governor.
