A drone strike triggered a fire outside a nuclear power facility in United Arab Emirates on Sunday, according to authorities, raising fresh security concerns amid continuing tensions in West Asia.

The Abu Dhabi Media Office said the incident occurred at an external electrical generator located outside the perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the Al Dhafra region of Abu Dhabi.

Officials confirmed that the fire was brought under control and stated that there were no reports of injuries or casualties. Authorities also clarified that there was no impact on radiological safety levels or the operational integrity of the nuclear facility.

The incident comes at a time when a fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran continues to hold, although regional tensions remain high and fears persist over the possibility of renewed conflict in West Asia.

Analysts warn that any escalation in the region could further destabilise global energy markets and prolong the international energy crisis triggered by ongoing geopolitical tensions.
