Petrol and diesel prices were increased again on Saturday, marking the third hike in less than 10 days as state-owned oil marketing companies continued to pass on the impact of rising global energy prices triggered by tensions in West Asia.

In Delhi, petrol prices were raised by 87 paise per litre, taking the rate from ₹98.64 to ₹99.51 per litre. Diesel prices increased by 91 paise, rising from ₹91.58 to ₹92.49 per litre.

The latest revision follows a ₹3 per litre increase announced on May 15 and another hike of around 90 paise on May 19. With the fresh increase, fuel prices have risen by nearly ₹5 per litre within a span of 10 days.

The continuous rise in domestic fuel prices comes amid volatility in international crude oil markets following the ongoing conflict in West Asia, which has pushed up global energy costs and raised concerns over supply disruptions.

Oil companies have stated that the hikes are part of a calibrated adjustment to reflect elevated international crude prices and higher import costs.
