A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel sustained injuries after his service rifle accidentally discharged at Jammu Railway Station on Tuesday evening, officials said.
The injured jawan, identified as Jaswinder Singh, was reportedly waiting for a train within the railway station premises for deployment on Yatra duties when his service INSAS rifle accidentally went off.
The bullet struck Singh in the foot, causing injuries. He was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, where his condition was stated to be stable.
In an official statement, police said, “One accidental firing incident occurred by a CISF jawan while waiting for the train for Yatra duties. No other person was injured. Proceedings as per law are underway.”
Authorities have initiated necessary legal and departmental procedures to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the accidental discharge.
