In a significant administrative exercise aimed at improving operational efficiency and strengthening field-level agricultural services, the Directorate of Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare, Kashmir Division, has ordered the transfer and posting of 171 field officials across the Valley.
The transfers were sanctioned through Agriculture Order No. 58/Estt of 2026, issued on June 3, 2026. The reshuffle covers Junior Agriculture Extension Officers (JAEOs), In-Charge JAEOs, and Agriculture Extension Assistants (AEAs) serving in various agricultural zones and sub-divisions across Kashmir.
According to the order, the large-scale redeployment has been undertaken to streamline departmental functioning, optimize manpower utilization, and enhance the delivery of agricultural extension services at the grassroots level.
The transfer list includes 38 Junior Agriculture Extension Officers, 54 In-Charge JAEOs, and 79 Agriculture Extension Assistants, who have been reassigned to new jurisdictions across districts including Baramulla, Uri, Sopore, Pattan, Tangmarg, Rohama, Handwara, Kupwara, and other agricultural subdivisions.
Officials said the exercise is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional efficiency, ensure balanced workforce distribution, and improve outreach to farming communities throughout the Kashmir Valley.
The order directs all concerned officials to report to their new places of posting immediately and ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities. Departmental authorities have expressed confidence that the reshuffle will contribute to improved service delivery and more effective implementation of agricultural development programmes across the region.
