The Jammu and Kashmir government has approved infrastructure development works worth Rs 7.05 crore under the Capital Expenditure (Capex) Budget for the welfare of Kashmiri migrants residing in Jammu, according to an official statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office.

The sanctioned projects are aimed at strengthening community infrastructure and improving essential amenities for displaced migrant families living in the region.

Among the major initiatives approved is the construction of a multipurpose community hall at the Migrant Camp in Muthi, one of the largest settlements housing Kashmiri migrant families. The proposed facility will also include a library and dedicated space for Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

The government has further sanctioned the construction of a new office building for the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrants), Jammu, to enhance administrative efficiency and service delivery.

Officials said the community hall will serve as a hub for social, educational and cultural activities, while also providing support for livelihood and skill-development initiatives undertaken by SHGs.

The projects form part of the government’s efforts to improve infrastructure and community services for Kashmiri migrants and address their long-term welfare needs.
