A 55-year-old man lost his life after being struck by a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) vehicle in the Qazigund area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday, officials said.
According to officials, the accident occurred in YK Pora village of Qazigund when a CRPF vehicle bearing registration number JK01M-6934 allegedly hit the pedestrian, leaving him critically injured.
The injured man was immediately rushed to Emergency Hospital Qazigund for treatment. However, doctors declared him brought dead upon arrival.
The deceased was identified as Gull Mohammad Itoo, son of Abdul Rahim Itoo and a resident of YK Pora, Qazigund.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and registered a case. Further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances leading to the accident, officials added.
