Examiner Bureau | Srinagar:
The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) on Tuesday announced summer vacation for all government and recognised private schools up to the Higher Secondary level across the Kashmir Division from July 6 to July 19, 2026.
The decision was formalised through Order No. 243-DSEK of 2026 dated June 30, 2026, following approval from the competent authority. According to the order, all government and recognised private schools in the Kashmir Division will remain closed during the notified period.
Earlier in the day, Director School Education Kashmir, Naseer Ahmad Wani, said the government had approved the summer break in view of the prevailing heatwave conditions across the Valley.
The decision comes amid a sustained rise in temperatures and follows demands from parents and other stakeholders for an early summer vacation to safeguard the health and well-being of students.
As per the order, schools will reopen on July 20, 2026, unless any further notification is issued by the government.
