Examiner Bureau | Srinagar:
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir, of the Crime Branch has filed a chargesheet against four individuals accused of allegedly securing government jobs in the Health Department by using fake and forged educational certificates.
The chargesheet was filed before the Court of the Forest Magistrate, Srinagar, in connection with FIR No. 16/2014, registered under Sections 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), and 471 (using forged documents as genuine) of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC).
The accused have been identified as Shuja Jeelani of Pamposh Colony, Chanapora, Srinagar; Mohammad Iqbal of Umar Colony, Lal Nagar, Chanapora, Srinagar; Nisar Ahmad Wani of Malwari, Pulwama; and Riyaz Ahmad Shah of Midoora, Awantipora, Pulwama.
According to the Crime Branch, the case was initiated following a complaint alleging that the four individuals, selected by the Services Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB) for various posts in the Health Department, had obtained appointments by submitting forged educational certificates.
During the investigation, officials found that the educational testimonials submitted by the accused were fake and failed to match official records during the verification process. Based on these findings, their appointments were subsequently cancelled.
The investigation concluded that the accused had allegedly secured government employment through fraudulent means by using forged educational documents, thereby cheating the recruiting authorities.
The Crime Branch has appealed to the public to remain vigilant against economic offences and report cases of financial and recruitment-related fraud to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Economic Offences Wing, Kashmir. It has also advised victims of economic fraud to submit complaints through the designated official email channel.
