Agencies | Tehran:
Hours after Tehran announced the suspension of its commitments under the interim agreement with the United States, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei on Saturday accused Washington of repeatedly violating the ceasefire Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), describing the US as the “Great Satan.”
In a post on X, Khamenei alleged that repeated violations of the agreement had demonstrated that US President Donald Trump’s signature was “utterly worthless and devoid of credibility.”
“The repeated breaches of the agreement by the Great Satan [the US] regarding the MOU signed by the Presidents of Iran and the US have once again laid bare a fundamental truth: the signature of the US President is utterly worthless and devoid of credibility,” Khamenei wrote.
He further warned that the United States should understand that the Iranian nation and the “resistance front” had “unforgettable lessons” for Washington, according to a Reuters report.
The remarks came amid heightened tensions following Tehran’s decision to suspend its obligations under the interim deal. Fresh military strikes reportedly exchanged between Washington and Tehran after the collapse of the ceasefire arrangement have intensified concerns over the possibility of a return to full-scale conflict in the region.
