Examiner Bureau | Srinagar:
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday announced that he is cutting short his stay in Delhi and returning to Jammu in view of the weather warning issued by the Meteorological Department and the evolving situation in parts of the Jammu division.
In a post on X, the Chief Minister said he would fly to Jammu on Sunday afternoon to personally monitor the situation on the ground.
“In light of the weather warning put out by the Meteorological Department and the seriousness of the situation unfolding across parts of Jammu division, I will leave Delhi to fly to Jammu this afternoon to personally monitor the situation on the ground,” Abdullah wrote.
Despite his departure, Abdullah said the scheduled protest demanding the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir would continue as planned. He added that the programme would be led by Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) president Dr. Farooq Abdullah.
“The statehood protest will go ahead under the leadership of JKNC President Dr. Farooq Abdullah as planned,” he said.
The announcement comes amid heightened concern over adverse weather conditions affecting several areas of the Jammu division.
