Amid heightened tensions between the United States and Iran, Tehran has intensified its diplomatic outreach, holding a series of high-level consultations with key regional partners as concerns mount over the possibility of further escalation in the Middle East.
According to Iranian officials, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held urgent discussions with senior leaders and counterparts from Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia to review the rapidly evolving regional security situation and assess the implications of recent developments involving the United States.
During his conversations with Pakistan’s Field Marshal and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Araghchi expressed concern over what Iran described as destabilising actions by the United States, warning that any further military escalation could aggravate regional instability and undermine efforts to maintain peace.
The Iranian foreign minister reiterated that the Islamic Republic remains fully prepared to safeguard its national sovereignty, territorial integrity and security, stressing that Tehran would respond decisively to any act of military aggression against the country.
In a separate conversation with the Saudi foreign minister, Araghchi reviewed the latest developments in the Middle East and discussed what Tehran described as regional challenges and actions that it believes could threaten stability and security.
Iran also urged regional countries, mediators and diplomatic interlocutors not to support or facilitate what it characterised as hostile actions by the United States and Israel, cautioning that such moves could further inflame tensions and weaken ongoing diplomatic efforts.
Araghchi’s discussions with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan also focused on the broader geopolitical implications of recent developments, with both sides exchanging views on the risks of a wider regional conflict and the importance of diplomatic engagement.
Iran has maintained that it will hold accountable any party it believes contributes to or encourages military escalation in the Middle East, while continuing consultations with regional capitals in an effort to prevent the conflict from widening.
The latest diplomatic outreach comes amid renewed uncertainty over the future of US-Iran relations, with diplomatic engagement continuing even as political and military rhetoric between Tehran, Washington and Israel remains elevated.
