The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered a reshuffle in the School Education Department, effecting changes in the postings of Chief Education Officers (CEOs) in Jammu and Udhampur and appointing Principal Sunil Kumar Khajuria as In-charge Chief Education Officer with immediate effect.
According to Government Order No. 308-JK (Edu) of 2026, dated August 5, Sunil Kumar Khajuria, Principal of Government Higher Secondary School, Pallanwalla, Jammu, has been placed as In-charge Chief Education Officer and equivalent in his own pay and grade. Following the placement, he has been posted as Chief Education Officer, Udhampur.
Consequent upon the transfer, Subash Chander Gupta, who was serving as In-charge Chief Education Officer, Udhampur, has been transferred and posted as Chief Education Officer, Jammu.
The order clarifies that Khajuria’s placement is purely temporary and will not confer any preferential claim for regularisation or confirmation. His regular promotion will be considered separately by the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) or the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) in accordance with the prescribed rules.
The placement will also remain subject to the outcome of any writ petitions pending before competent courts.
The government has directed the officer to furnish an undertaking affirming that the placement shall be deemed cancelled ab initio if any of his service records, educational qualifications or other credentials are found to be fake, forged, tampered with or issued by an unrecognised institution.
The order further stipulates that the placement will also stand cancelled if any adverse report is received from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), General Administration Department (Vigilance), Criminal Investigation Department (CID) or any other competent agency.
Khajuria has been directed to assume charge at his new place of posting within 10 days of the issuance of the order, failing which the placement will be cancelled without any further notice.
