Three people, including two residents of Srinagar, were killed and three others injured in a road accident in the Bhogpur area of Jalandhar district in Punjab, officials said.
According to officials, the accident occurred when a speeding Maruti Fronx collided with a roadside vendor before crashing into a tree, resulting in multiple casualties.
The roadside vendor, who was a resident of Punjab, also died in the accident.
Officials said three other occupants of the vehicle, all residents of Srinagar, sustained injuries in the crash. They were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The condition of the injured was not immediately available.
Police and other authorities have taken cognisance of the incident, while further details regarding the identities of the deceased, the condition of the injured and the circumstances leading to the accident are awaited.
