Absconding Accused Wanted in Cheque-Bounce, Cheating Cases Arrested in Budgam

Police in central Kashmir’s Budgam district have apprehended an absconding accused wanted in multiple cheque-bounce cases and a cheating case registered at Police Station Magam, officials said.

The accused has been identified as Reyaz Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, a resident of Attina, Beerwah. He was traced and apprehended from the Hawal area of Srinagar, police said.

According to police, a team from Police Station Beerwah, in coordination with personnel from Police Station Zadibal, Srinagar, apprehended Dar based on specific information regarding his whereabouts.

Police said Dar was wanted in connection with FIR No. 26/2024, registered under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code at Police Station Magam. He had also been declared an absconder by Police Station Beerwah.

The Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Budgam, had issued a warrant against him in connection with proceedings under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, pertaining to dishonour of cheques, police said.
