The Jammu and Kashmir Police Headquarters has ordered a major transfer and posting exercise involving personnel of the Traffic Wing and their respective parent formations, directing all affected officials to be relieved forthwith.
Order No. 2815 of 2026, issued by Police Headquarters, Srinagar, on October 6, covers Sub-Inspectors, Assistant Sub-Inspectors, Head Constables, Selection Grade Constables, Constables and a Follower. The order, issued in the interest of administration, has been approved by the Director General of Police and digitally signed by SP-Personnel Varun Jandial at 14:21:41.
The order is divided into two parts, with the first providing for the transfer of personnel presently serving in the Traffic Wing back to their respective parent formations, while the second provides for fresh deployment of personnel in the Traffic Wing.
Under the first part of the order, personnel serving in the Traffic Wing have been transferred to their parent formations in the Kashmir Zone, Jammu Zone and Armed Zone.
Among the Sub-Inspectors transferred to the Kashmir Zone are Bodh Raj, Mohammad Shafi, Pawan Kumar Singh and Syed Jaffar Hussain. Assistant Sub-Inspectors, including Farooq Ahmad, Nazir Ahmad, Hilal Ahmad, Rustam Ganie, Shamim Ahmad, Ali Mohd Najar, Ghulam Nabi and Gh Mohiud Din, have also been moved to the Kashmir Zone.
A number of Head Constables and Selection Grade Constables have similarly been transferred to their respective parent zones.
Sub-Inspectors Ravi Dutt, Mohd Akbar and Fazal Ahmed, along with Assistant Sub-Inspectors Suresh Kumar, Abhinash Chander, Pawan Kumar and Mohd Saleem, have been transferred to the Jammu Zone.
A large contingent of Head Constables and Selection Grade Constables has also been moved to the Jammu Zone, while Head Constable Karnail Singh has been transferred to the Armed Zone.
Several other personnel, including Head Constables and Selection Grade Constables, have been assigned to the Kashmir Zone as part of the reshuffle.
The order covers a substantial number of Selection Grade Constables from the Traffic Wing, with personnel being redistributed among the Kashmir, Jammu and Armed zones.
Among those transferred to the Jammu Zone are Rajesh Kumar, Jaffer Hussain, Haroon Rehman Sohil, Anil Kumar, Surjeet Kumar, Mohd Riaz, Mohd Saleem, Surjeet Singh, Rajeev Chand, Shahzad Ahmed, Mir Mohammad, Yashpal Singh, Shafiq Ahmed, Madan Lal, Ajay Sharma, Mohd Azam, Atul Sharma, Abdul Hamid, Junaid Ahmed and Ayaz Ahmed, among others.
Selection Grade Constables Ajay Kumar and Tahir Ahmad Mir have been assigned to the Armed Zone, while several others have been posted to the Kashmir Zone.
The reshuffle also covers Constables, with Mudasir Ahmad, Zahoor Ahmad, Mohmad Iqbal, Kaisar Ahmad Lone, Arif Ahmad Malik, Mohd Jaffar, Manzoor Ahmad, Rayees Khurshid, Mohd Younus Wani and Ajaz Ahmad Mir, among others, transferred to the Kashmir Zone. Follower Joginder Paul has been posted to the Jammu Zone.
The second part of the order provides for the deployment of replacement personnel in the Traffic Wing.
Sub-Inspectors Parshotam Singh, Ghulam Jeelani Khan, Mohd Mehboob Malik, Abdul Rashid and Manzoor Ahmad, along with Probationary Sub-Inspectors Suman Sharma and Virender Singh, have been posted to the Traffic Wing.
Assistant Sub-Inspectors, including Sajad Hussain, Khursheed Ahmad Seh, Arshad Hussain Kuchay, Manner Ahmed, Kuldeep Singh, Rajesh Kumar, Dev Raj, Mumtaz Ahmed, Ranjeet Singh, Harbans Lal and Raj Kumar, have also been assigned traffic duties.
The replacement deployment includes a substantial number of Head Constables and Selection Grade Constables drawn from different formations.
Among the Head Constables posted to the Traffic Wing are Ravinder Singh, Fayroze Rashid War, Ab Rashid Malik, Altaf Ahmad Khanday, Iftikar Ahmad Sheikh, Reyaz Ahmad Wagay, Masroor Ahmad, Shamim Ahmad Dar, Farooq Ahmad Tantray, Gh Mustafa Wani, Bilal Ahmad Lone, Farooq Ahmad Parray, Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar, Aijaz Ahmad Gojar, Mashkoor Hussain, Jai Parkash, Ram Parshad, Vipan Kumar, Mohd Hafiz and Javeed Iqbal, among others.
A large roster of Selection Grade Constables has also been posted to the Traffic Wing, including personnel from both Kashmir and Jammu formations.
The deployment covers officials such as Sartaj Ahmad Dar, Subzar Ahmad Ganie, Iftikhar Ali Ganie, Irshad Ahmad Wani, Shabir Ahmad Tali, Mohd Shafi Chohan, Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat, Rameez Raja Pala, Umar Mukhtar Ahmad, Sheikh Salah Ud Din, Wazir Ahmad Dar, Irfan Ahmad Bhat, Showket Ahmad, Tariq Hussain Sheikh, Ghulam Mohuidin and Mohd Lateef Mir, among many others.
The order also includes the posting of several Constables to the Traffic Wing, including Punjab Singh, Jahangir Hassan Dar, Murtaza Maqbool, Bilal Ahmad Malik, Sartaj Ahmad Bhat, Wazir Ahmad Laway, Ayaz Ahmad Meer, Mohd Altaf Shiekh, Sheikh Muzamil, Shafiq-Ur-Rehman, Khurshid Ahmad, Mohd Ashraf Dar and Sayar Ahmad Thooker.
Follower Mohd Bashrait has also been assigned to the Traffic Wing.
The order specifies two exceptions concerning existing attachments. Selection Grade Constable Rakesh Kumar will continue as Personal Security Officer with Tahir Sajjad Bhat, Additional Director, SIA, under Headquarters Order No. 2123 dated July 1, 2025.
Similarly, Selection Grade Constable Niyaz Ahmad will continue his attachment with Dr Raies Ahmad Mir, Superintendent of Police, under Headquarters Order No. 1345 of 2020 dated April 22, 2020, from the Kashmir Zone until further orders.
Police Headquarters has directed all personnel covered by the order to be relieved forthwith, making the transfers and postings effective immediately.
The extensive reshuffle comes as part of the administrative reorganisation of personnel between the Traffic Wing and their parent formations, with fresh personnel being deployed to maintain staffing in the Traffic Wing.
