Examiner Bureau | Srinagar:

The Omar Abdullah-led government on Friday notified a 21-day timeline for the delivery of key public services under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Services Guarantee Act, 2011, in a move aimed at expediting administrative approvals and improving public service delivery.

The Chief Minister’s Office described the decision as a significant step towards faster, more transparent and citizen-centric governance across Jammu and Kashmir.

“The government has notified a 21-day timeline for the delivery of key public services under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Services Guarantee Act, 2011,” the Chief Minister’s Office said.

The prescribed timeline covers essential administrative clearances, including No Objection Certificates (NOCs) required for building permissions from departments such as Revenue, Forest, Jal Shakti, Power Development and Roads and Buildings, as well as local development authorities.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the measure is intended to streamline approval procedures, minimise delays and strengthen accountability in the delivery of government services.

“This step will benefit citizens by streamlining administrative approvals, reducing delays, ensuring accountability, and enhancing ease of living across J&K,” it added.

The initiative is expected to make the process of obtaining essential permissions more predictable for residents and other applicants by establishing a defined timeframe for the delivery of notified services.
