Journalists in Bishnah staged a protest on Sunday, alleging misbehaviour during the visit of the Director of Urban Local Bodies (ULB) to the area and demanding action against a man accused of pushing media personnel.
According to the protesting journalists, the incident occurred during an official meeting when reporters posed questions to the Director of Urban Local Bodies. They alleged that a man, identified as Ravi and claimed by the journalists to be associated with the local MLA, allegedly pushed and obstructed journalists while they were carrying out their professional duties.
Following the incident, journalists gathered outside the Bishnah Police Station and staged a protest, demanding the registration of a case and strict legal action against the accused.
Speaking to the media, representatives of the protesting journalists condemned the alleged misconduct and said such incidents hamper press freedom and interfere with journalists in the discharge of their professional responsibilities.
