A militant was killed and an AK rifle along with other war-like stores were recovered during a joint search operation in the Ashdar Gali area of Budgam district on Friday, the Army said.

The operation was launched by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF based on specific intelligence inputs, the Army’s Chinar Corps said in a post on X.

According to the Army, troops observed suspicious activity during the operation and challenged the suspected militants. The militants allegedly responded by opening fire, triggering an exchange of gunfire between the two sides.

In the ensuing exchange, one militant was killed, while an AK rifle and other war-like stores were recovered from the site, the Army said.

The joint operation, being conducted under Operation Ashdar, was continuing as further searches were being carried out in the area.
