Examiner Bureau | Srinagar:

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday condemned the alleged use of force by Delhi Police against Rajya Sabha MP John Brittas, describing the incident as unacceptable and indefensible.

In a post on X, Abdullah said the use of force against an unarmed protester could not be justified under any circumstances. He added that the alleged assault was particularly serious given Brittas’s position as an elected Member of Parliament.

“I join all my JKNC colleagues in condemning this reprehensible brutality,” Abdullah said.

His remarks came after the Communist Party of India (Marxist) alleged that Brittas had been brutally assaulted by Delhi Police and subsequently left by the roadside in an injured and distressed condition.

The allegations have drawn criticism, with Abdullah expressing solidarity with Brittas and condemning the reported police action. The claims of assault were attributed to the CPI(M) and had not been independently verified in the information provided.
