Monalisa Bhosle, popularly known as the “Kumbh Mela girl,” has filed a complaint under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) against four individuals, including advocate Anil Vilayil and film director Sanoj Mishra. The case has been registered at the Ernakulam Central Police Station.
According to reports, the FIR under the POCSO Act was registered on April 29, 2026. Monalisa has alleged that Mishra misbehaved with her during the shooting of The Diary of Manipur.
Addressing a press conference in Kochi, she claimed that the director inappropriately touched her multiple times during the shoot. She further alleged lack of support from her family after she disclosed the incident.
Advocate Anil Vilayil has also been accused of defaming her on social media. Monalisa appeared before a court on Thursday, where her statement was recorded. Officials indicated that the case could be transferred to the police in Madhya Pradesh, as the alleged incidents reportedly took place there.
The complaint also comes amid an ongoing dispute surrounding her marriage to Farman. Her family had earlier filed a case alleging that she was a minor at the time of marriage, while Monalisa has maintained that she is 18 years old and has defended her personal decisions.
The matter had also drawn controversy earlier, with allegations linked to the “love jihad” narrative being raised by her family. However, Monalisa has consistently denied these claims and reiterated her stance regarding her age and relationship.
The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act is a special legislation enacted in 2012 to protect individuals below the age of 18 from sexual abuse, harassment and exploitation. It provides a structured legal framework for reporting and prosecuting such offences, with provisions ensuring child-friendly procedures during investigation and trial, including protection of the victim’s identity.
