Examiner Bureau | Kashtwar:

Security forces on Friday busted a terrorist hideout in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district, recovering a significant cache of arms, ammunition and explosive material, officials said.

The operation was carried out during a search mission in the Chatroo area, where forces uncovered the hideout in the Bajmandoo forest of Sigdi Bhata. According to officials, the hideout is believed to have been linked to a terrorist commander who had been eliminated in an earlier operation.

The recovered cache included a carbine gun with a magazine, a pistol with a magazine, an Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) with a 51 mm rocket, a sling, and four detonators.

In addition, security personnel seized 97 rounds of 9 mm live ammunition, 18 rounds of 7.62 mm live ammunition, a pull-through, and approximately one kilogram of explosive material.

Communication equipment recovered from the site included one Kenwood radio set and two Motorola radio sets, indicating the use of the location for coordinated militant activity.

Officials said the recovery has dealt a significant blow to militant logistics in the region, and further investigations are underway.
