Examiner Bureau | Srinagar:
National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah is set to chair a crucial meeting of senior party leaders at the party headquarters, Nawai Subah, in Srinagar on Thursday, sources said.
According to insiders, the high-level meeting will bring together Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, cabinet ministers, all NC legislators from Kashmir, and other senior leaders to deliberate on key political and administrative issues.
The meeting assumes added significance in light of recent remarks by the Chief Minister, who hinted at delivering a strong political message after Eid. Speaking at a function in Tangmarg, Omar Abdullah said he intends to “burst like a cloudburst” and speak candidly at a public gathering, a statement that has sparked intense speculation across political circles in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources indicated that the agenda is likely to include discussions on the restoration of statehood, the functioning and performance of the government, and broader political strategy. The issue of cabinet expansion is also expected to feature prominently, with three ministerial positions currently vacant out of the permissible strength of nine in the Union Territory.
Party leaders are expected to use the meeting to assess the evolving political landscape and chart the course ahead, particularly in the backdrop of growing public and political expectations in the region.
