The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) on Wednesday announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns across several parts of Kashmir in the coming days, citing essential repair and maintenance work.
According to an official communication issued by the Chief Engineer, Distribution, the shutdown of the 132 KV Mattan line will affect power supply to Achabal, Gopalpora and Pahalgam from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM on May 11.
On the same day, additional shutdowns of the 132 KV Wanpoh lines will impact electricity supply to key areas including Anantnag, Malaknag, Qaimoh, Qazigund, Ashajipora, SICOP and Shopian between 2:30 PM and 5:00 PM in phases.
Further, on May 14, the shutdown of the 132 KV Lisser line will disrupt power supply to Hiller, Kokernag and Dooru from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. This will be followed by a shutdown of the 132/33 KV Grid Station Mattan, affecting Achabal, Gopalpora and Pahalgam again from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
In addition, the 132 KV IRCON-I shutdown on May 14 will impact power supply to the grid station at Qazigund linked with Northern Railways between 2:30 PM and 4:00 PM.
A major shutdown is also scheduled for May 16, involving the 475 MVA Grid Station Mirbazar and 220 KV New Wanpoh lines. This will lead to widespread outages across districts including Kulgam, Anantnag, Shopian and Pulwama, along with several adjoining areas, from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
Earlier, on May 7, the shutdown of the 33 KV HMT line will affect areas such as Zainakote, Shalteng, Mujgund and nearby industrial zones from 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
KPDCL has advised residents in the affected areas to plan accordingly and bear with the temporary inconvenience, stating that the maintenance work is essential for improving the reliability and efficiency of the power supply network.
