The Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed the plea of Jasir Bilal Wani alias Danish, an accused in the 2025 Red Fort car blast case, seeking default bail, upholding the trial court’s decision to reject his application.

A bench comprising Justices Prathiba M Singh and Vikas Mahajan dismissed Wani’s appeal against a March 30 order of the trial court, which had rejected his plea for default bail.

“It is held that the accused is not entitled after 90 days. The appeal is liable to be dismissed,” the bench observed.

Under the law, an accused may become entitled to default bail if the investigating agency fails to file a chargesheet within the prescribed statutory period.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Wani, a Kashmiri accused of being an “active co-conspirator”, in November 2025 in connection with the blast case.

According to the agency’s allegations, Wani provided technical assistance for carrying out terror attacks, including modifying drones and attempting to develop rockets. The NIA has further alleged that he worked closely with Umar un Nabi, who was identified as the suicide bomber behind the attack, in planning the Red Fort blast.

The explosion occurred on November 10, 2025, when a Hyundai i20 car exploded near the Red Fort at around 6:52 pm. The blast killed 15 people and injured several others.

The NIA has been investigating the incident as a terror attack, with multiple accused facing allegations relating to the planning and execution of the blast.
