The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has transferred 2010-batch IPS officer Vikas Gupta from Jammu and Kashmir to Goa with immediate effect, according to an order issued by the Union Government.
The order, issued by the MHA from Kartavya Bhavan, New Delhi, stated that Gupta, an officer of the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram-Union Territory) cadre, has been transferred to Goa until further orders with the approval of the competent authority.
The order was issued by Rakesh Kumar Singh, Under Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs.
Gupta, a 2010-batch officer of the AGMUT cadre, has served in Jammu and Kashmir in various senior police and administrative assignments.
His transfer to Goa is part of the Centre’s broader administrative deployment and rotation of AGMUT-cadre officers across Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Goa and other Union Territories.
The AGMUT cadre covers several Union Territories and adjoining administrative regions, with officers periodically transferred between different assignments as part of the Centre’s cadre-management process.
The MHA order makes clear that Gupta’s transfer to Goa will take effect immediately and remain in force until further orders.
The move is expected to bring a change in the deployment of senior IPS officers in Jammu and Kashmir as the administration continues to manage its police and security structure.
Further orders regarding Gupta’s specific posting and responsibilities in Goa are awaited.
