An 18-year-old girl died after suffering a gunshot injury under mysterious circumstances at her residence in the Panassa area of Thakrakote block in Reasi district late Sunday night, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Priyanka Devi, daughter of Kapoor Singh, a resident of Panassa, Thakrakote, officials said.
According to preliminary reports, the girl allegedly sustained the gunshot injury after firing a weapon at her residence. However, the exact circumstances surrounding the incident have not yet been established.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the sequence of events and circumstances leading to the girl’s death.
