Authorities in Kashmir have ordered the suspension of classwork on Saturday in 60 schools designated as examination centres for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026, scheduled to be held on June 21.

According to officials, the affected schools are spread across six districts of the Valley. Of the 60 institutions, 21 each are located in Srinagar and Anantnag districts, while five each are in Baramulla and Kupwara, and four each are in Budgam and Pulwama.

In an order issued on Friday, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) stated, “In view of the upcoming NEET examination scheduled on June 21, the classwork in schools designated as centres for the NEET examination shall remain suspended on June 20.”

The Directorate also cautioned that any deviation from the directive would invite strict legal action against the concerned institution.

Meanwhile, the National Testing Agency (NTA) had earlier cancelled the NEET-UG 2026 examination conducted on May 3 following allegations of a paper leak. Subsequently, the Centre handed over the investigation into the alleged irregularities to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a comprehensive probe.
