A 22-year-old woman from Sikkim was allegedly murdered by her live-in partner following a heated argument at their rented accommodation in Bengaluru’s Doddakanahalli area on Sunday morning, authorities confirmed.
The suspect was arrested later that day by the Bellandur police, within whose jurisdiction the crime occurred. The deceased has been identified as Ati Hangma Subba, 22, a native of Sikkim. She had been residing in the city and working as a receptionist at a local salon.
Police identified the accused as Purba Lepcha, a native of Darjeeling, West Bengal, who was employed as a waiter at a city hotel. According to investigators, the couple had been in a relationship and relocated to Bengaluru just a month ago to live together.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a severe dispute erupted between the two on Thursday morning. Law enforcement officials stated that the altercation began when Lepcha accused Subba of being involved with another friend.
As the argument escalated, Lepcha allegedly attacked Subba with a kitchen knife and slit her throat, inflicting fatal injuries that resulted in her immediate death. The Bellandur police have registered a case, and a further investigation into the incident is currently underway
